The general weather situation is beginning to change significantly. The strong westerly to northwesterly flow over the Alps will give way to a strong southwesterly flow in the coming days. As the week progresses, the south foehn will continue to pick up, reaching strong to stormy levels, especially in the mountains. This will be accompanied by slightly changeable weather with temperatures that are quite mild for the season. Early winter is thus retreating from the Alps, allowing golden autumn to make a comeback. The sun will shine for long periods, with only occasional thicker cloud cover. This will be due to weak disturbances, which will be greatly weakened by the foehn as they move from the southwest to the northeast over the Alps. However, this may occasionally lead to weak orographic effects on the main Alpine ridge.
