The heat wave will peak on Saturday. Extreme heat stress and record-breaking temperatures for June are expected. The zero-degree isotherm in the mountains will climb above 4,500 meters above sea level. The risk of severe heat thunderstorms will increase later in the day. However, it will certainly only affect some regions! On Sunday, we’ll gradually move toward the leading edge of a so-called trough. At first, we’ll still be in the hot air, which will become increasingly muggy. In the afternoon and evening, severe thunderstorms may develop in many regions. Locally, severe weather with storms and hail is also possible. At the start of the week, the intense heat will be pushed eastward. It remains to be seen how much cooler it will get over the course of the next week.
