K.1 Durchs Vordere Paznaun

A very varied tour of discovery through the bottom section of Paznaun.

From the start point in Kappl centre, the route leads initially east and follows side roads down to the main road which you then follow for 700 m out of the valley. Then turn right over the bridge where you come across a forest path at the Kappl recycling centre. From here, the route follows uphill and downhill sections out of the valley and through dense forest on the shady side of the valley. There is little change in the landscapes until you reach the Medrigjochbahn mountain station after around 15 km where you can savour the panoramic views and take a break at the guesthouse. The toboggan run track follows a steep descent down to See and from here, runs parallel to the routes K.2 Weilertour Kappl (page 72) and 735 Inntalblick-Runde (page 74) via various hamlets on the sunny side and back to the start.

Tip: Worthwhile detour up to the panoramic Ascherhütte (see tour S.1).

The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.

With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Kappl Dorf
