Difficult hike to the Edmund Graf Hut and Hohe Riffler
Description
From the Dias mountain station, the route initially proceeds past the Almmuseum, before the steep climb to the Schmalzgrubenscharte (2.697 m) begins. The descent proceeds past the crystal-clear Schmalzgrubensee to Edmund Graf Hütte (overnight stay options available here when you reserve a place in advance. Please note the opening hours!). From here the steep ascent to the Hoher Riffler begins, which, at 3.168 m, is the highest mountain in the Verwall group. Return section: from Edmund Graf Hütte follow the signpost for Kapplerjoch.
The descent proceeds past the deep blue Blankasee up to Durrichalpe. Here choose route no. 10 to Oberhaus, continuing on route no. 9 to Kappl.
